The University held a pre-bid conference on September 24, 2009. Bids for phase 2 are due on November 2, 2009.

Just a reminder for all MU students…
Please do NOT enter the construction areas. Your safety is our priority throughout the renovation!

Phase II of the SMC renovation began this morning with the assembly of the site fencing. This phase includes the construction of the addition to the south and east sides of the building. The additions to the Fitness Center, construction of the Student Program and Student Organizational Offices, construction of the atrium, and the new Information Desk will be completed during this phase.

The South entrance nearest the Reighard Multipurpose Room will be closed for the entire project.

Check back often for construction photos and updates!

The entire Fitness Center is scheduled to be re-opened on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15. At this time, the reception desk and main entrance will return to their original locations. The locker rooms are still under construction and will be completed in the near future.

The SMC Fitness Center construction continues this week as the rubber flooring in the cardiovascular room is cleaned and prepped to be glued back down. The floor will be glued on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be cleaning days as we prepare to re-open the room. We anticipate the room will be re-opened on Friday afternoon. Again, thank you for your patience during this phase of the renovation.

What was completed over the Summer?

This summer, Phase 1 of the renovation was completed. This included moving the utilities that were under George St. Moving these utilities will allow us to build on what was formally George St. Phase 1 also included the expansion of the parking lot at the South end of the Student Memorial Center.
